Lucy Williams’ practice explores architecture from the modernist period, referencing the exterior and interior spaces of both celebrated buildings, as well as more obscure architectural structures. Using multiple layers Lucy constructs intricate reliefs using a variety of materials including coloured paper, Perspex and wood veneers.
Library at Maison Louis Carré #6 recreates a detail of a study in France, designed by the Finnish architect Alvar Aalto, as a rhythmic construction of geometric forms, creating an illusory field of depth and space.
Lucy has widely exhibited both in the UK and internationally and is represented by Berggruen Gallery, San Francisco. She lives and works in London.
